SCRIPTURE
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.'" — John 11:25 (NKJV)
TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL
Mary and Martha were in the deepest grief of their lives when Jesus arrived at Bethany — four days after their brother Lazarus had died. In the middle of their weeping, Jesus made one of the most stunning declarations of His ministry: I am the resurrection and the life. He did not say He could perform a resurrection or that He had access to resurrection power. He said He is the Resurrection — meaning wherever He is present, death has met its master. He was not merely consoling two grieving sisters; He was announcing the nature of who He is.
Resurrection is not only for the last day. Jesus demonstrates that His resurrection power is active and present right now. He called Lazarus out of four days of death to prove that no situation is too far gone, too long buried, or too decayed for Him to restore. What has died in your life — a dream, a relationship, a hope, a season of fruitfulness — is not beyond the reach of the Resurrection. He specialises in bringing life out of what appears to be permanently lost.
Call on Jesus today as the Resurrection. Roll away the stone of unbelief from whatever situation you have given up on. The Resurrection does not wait for things to be almost dead — He raises what is completely dead. Speak His name over the dead places in your life today. He who stood at the mouth of a sealed tomb and commanded a dead man to walk out is the same Jesus who stands at the door of your impossibility right now. He is the Resurrection — and He is calling life forth.
