Jesus the True Vine

SCRIPTURE

"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser." — John 15:1 (NKJV)

TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL

Israel had long been called God's vine — planted by Him, tended by Him, and expected to bear fruit for Him. Yet Israel repeatedly failed to produce the fruit God desired. Jesus arrives and declares: I am the true vine. He is the fulfilment of everything Israel was meant to be. He is the genuine article — the vine that actually bears fruit, that actually remains connected to the Father, that actually produces what God intended when He planted a people for His glory. And He invites you to be a branch in that true vine.

The relationship between a vine and its branches is not optional or distant — it is intimate and absolute. A branch does not produce fruit by trying harder; it produces fruit by staying connected. The life of the vine flows through the branch and the fruit is the natural overflow of that life. Jesus is saying that your fruitfulness — in every area of life — is not the result of your effort but the overflow of your connection to Him. Abide in Him, and fruitfulness follows as naturally as grapes follow summer.

Call on Jesus today as the True Vine. If you have been striving to produce results in your own strength, stop and reconnect. If you feel dry and unfruitful, the answer is not more effort — it is deeper abiding. Draw close to the Vine today through His Word, through prayer, through worship. Let His life flow through you unobstructed. The branch that remains in the True Vine will bear fruit — much fruit — fruit that remains, for the glory of the Father.
