Jesus Our High Priest

SCRIPTURE

"Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession." — Hebrews 4:14 (NKJV)

TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL

Under the old covenant, the high priest was the one person who could enter the Most Holy Place — the very presence of God — on behalf of all the people. He went in carrying the names of the twelve tribes on his breastplate, interceding for a whole nation. Jesus is our Great High Priest who has not merely entered a room in a tent but has passed through the very heavens into the immediate presence of the eternal God. And He went in not with the blood of bulls and goats, but with His own blood, securing eternal redemption for all who call on His name.

What makes Jesus our perfect High Priest is that He is not distant from our struggles. Hebrews tells us He was tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. This means He stands before the Father as our intercessor with complete understanding of the human experience — its weakness, its pain, its temptation, and its desperate need for grace. When you are too weary to pray for yourself, Jesus your High Priest is already praying for you. He always lives to make intercession for those who come to God through Him.

Call on Jesus today as your High Priest. Come boldly to the throne of grace — not hesitantly, not fearfully, but boldly — because your High Priest has made the way open. The veil has been torn. There is no longer any barrier between you and the Father because Jesus your High Priest has removed it with His own body. Bring every need, every failure, every cry before the throne today, and trust that your Great High Priest is presenting you before the Father with grace that is more than sufficient.
